Embracing the Change

The air in Richmond has that lovely, gentle coolness now, doesn't it? You can see the dew settling on the leaves each morning, a quiet sign that autumn is unfolding around us.
This autumn feels a bit special. It's our first in our new house, which is quite different from our old place tucked away in the valley. While we loved the closeness of the hills there, we didn't get to see much of the wider scenery.
Now, we're lucky to have these beautiful evening sunsets and the snow-capped mountains in view. It's a lovely change. This autumn feels like it's bringing a bit of a shift in how we're living too, a chance to find a better balance.
It's about letting work be a part of life, rather than the only thing. Trying to make time for those little moments to just stop and appreciate what's around us – a fleeting sunset, the crispness of the air, the distant peaks dusted with early snow.

This way of thinking will be a big part of our brand as we move forward. You'll see this reflected here on The Edit. While our passion for creating thoughtful, enduring fashion with natural fibres remains central, this space will evolve into a more personal corner. I envision it as a place where I can share more of the inspirations that weave their way into our designs, the simple joys I find in seasonal living here in Tasman, perhaps a favourite recipe that warms from the inside out, or a quiet moment of reflection on finding beauty in the everyday. It's about sharing the "why" behind Jaclyn M, connecting on a more human level.
And for those who love to create with their own hands, Bare Thread Patterns will continue to be a source of inspiration and empowerment. We'll be focusing on designs that are not only stylish and well-crafted but also bring that sense of accomplishment and joy that comes from making something beautiful yourself. We'll share tips, techniques, and perhaps even glimpses into the design process, all with the aim of making the joy of sewing accessible and rewarding.
Ultimately, both Jaclyn M and its extensions, The Edit and Bare Thread Patterns, come back to that feeling of doing what brings us a sense of joy. Whether it's the quiet satisfaction of wearing a garment made from natural fibres, the creative flow of bringing a pattern to life, or simply taking a moment to appreciate the beauty around us, it's about infusing our lives with intention and a touch of simple happiness.
What small moments of beauty have you noticed unfolding in your world as autumn arrives? I'd love to hear about them in the comments below.
Warmly,
Jaclyn
