The Heart of Our Designs: Rooted in Natural Fibres
Let's be honest, when you compare the feel of natural fibres against your skin to synthetics, there's a world of difference. While synthetic materials certainly have their purpose, choosing timeless pieces crafted from natural fibres is not just a preference; it's a thoughtful investment.
For me personally, linen holds a special place, its unique texture and breathability making it a constant favourite. It's also such a beautiful fabric to handle and sew; there's a satisfying quality to the way it moves under the needle, and it truly complements so many of the designs we create for Jaclyn M, which is why it often becomes my first choice. Close behind linen is wool, with its incredible warmth and versatility. Working with these natural materials creates a tangible connection to the earth. It truly is wondrous to consider how the resources the earth provides have been spun and woven into the fabrics we wear.

Of course, like many natural fibres, linen does have a tendency to crease. It's a characteristic we've come to accept, a part of its inherent charm, much like the subtle imperfections we find in nature itself. It's simply something you make peace with, understanding that this natural characteristic is part of its beauty and authenticity. While many natural fibres are regenerative, it's crucial to remember that mindful consumption is key. Both the quantity we acquire and the quality of those pieces truly matter. This understanding guides our sourcing practices. We are committed to supporting our local economy, which is why we proudly source approximately 90% of our fabrics through New Zealand wholesalers. Keeping our supply chain as local as possible is a conscious choice, allowing us to foster relationships and contribute to our community.
Choosing natural fibres isn't just about the luxurious feel or their historical significance; it's also about a deeper connection to the world around us. Just as we might take a moment to appreciate the intricate beauty of a leaf or the comforting warmth of the sun, there's a similar mindful appreciation in knowing that the fabric we wear has its origins in the earth itself.
